EOS CCA Presents Collection and Compliance Training to Time Warner Cable

In a recent presentation to Time Warner Cable’s FMS team, EOS CCA management provided training that addressed collection technique, compliance, and overcoming objections. The presentation was so well-received that EOS CCA has been invited back by Time Warner Cable to provide training on “Best Practices for Commercial Collections.”

During the presentation, held on November 17, in San Antonio, Texas, Candice E. O’Brien, Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development, and Kevin M. Bennick, Vice President, Client Relations and Business Development, reviewed the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), a federal law designed to help protect consumers from abusive debt collection practices and to regulate the collection industry, with Time Warner management and members of Time Warner’s Consumer Credit and Collections Recovery Group.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) was also addressed, as Ms. O’Brien and Mr. Bennick covered the highlights of the Act, explaining that when a debtor disputes a bill either verbally or in writing, the information must be updated on his or her credit bureau report.

Other topics covered that were covered in depth included collection techniques and skip tracing training. During the Collection Techniques section, Ms. O’Brien and Mr. Bennick emphasized the importance of collectors positively identifying the consumer, and then identifying themselves and their company as well. During the Skip Trace techniques section of the training, they reviewed the types of probing questions collectors are allowed to ask, and information collectors are not allowed to share, in the interest of preventing third party disclosure.

Reviews of the presentation were extremely positive. As one attendee said, “WOW! The training was awesome. We have received excellent feedback on your presentation.”
